The Royal Artillery is unique in the British Army because of the emphasis they have always placed on their sub-units: known as batteries. Batteries can deploy independently, move around between regiments and even perform different roles to one another within a single regiment.
Biscot Camp was organised into 4 Batteries, with a Headquarters (HQ) component.
A, B, C, and D...B was later merged into A,C and D Batteries.

Telegram No. A 4545 Dated 24th December 1915:-
The following message has been received from the King and “His Majesty” commands that it be published in Orders of the various Garrison Towns, Defensible Ports, and Military Camps, on Xmas Day.
“Another Xmas finds all the resources of the Empire still engaged in War, and I desire to convey on my behalf and on behalf of the Queen a heartfelt Xmas Greeting and our good wishes for the New Year to all who on Sea or Land are upholding the honour of the British name. In the Officers and men of my Navy whom the security of the Empire depends I repose in common with all my subjects a trust that is absolute, on the Officers and men of my Armies, whether now in France, in the East or in other fields, I rely with an equal faith confident that their devotion, their valour, and their self-sacrifice will, under Gods guidance, lead to Victory and an honourable peace.
There are many of their comrades now alas in hospital, and to these brave men also I desire, with the Queen, to express our deep gratitude and our earnest prayers for their recovery. Officers and men of the Navy and Army, another year is drawing to a close as it began in toil, bloodshed and suffering, but I rejoice to know that the goal to which you are striving draws nearer into sight, May God Bless you and all your undertakings.”

Re-organisation
Under A.C.I. 1588, dated 14th August 1916, No. 6 Artillery Territorial Force, to consist of Headquarters and 3 Batteries.
The Batteries were designated “A”, “C”, “D” respectively.
“A” Battery, consisted of 3/1st, 3/2nd and 3/3rd London Brigades R.F.A. (T) Major ALLBERRY commanding.
“C” Battery, consisted of 3/5th and 3/6th London Brigades R.F.A. (T) Major FITCH commanding.
“D” Battery, consisted of 3/7th London Brigade R.F.A. (T) and 3/2nd London D.A.C. Major TURNER commanding.
The R.F.A. details remained with their present batteries except “B” Battery. These were divided equally between the new “A”, “C”, and “D” Batteries.
Remarks by Commandant on the above reorganisation:
In circulating the above order reducing the establishment of this Reserve Brigade to 3 Batteries, the Commandant regrets that the redistribution involved will break up many personal associations amongst both Officers, N.C.O’s and Men.
He wishes it to be understood that the Battery to be absorbed was selected solely by the Division to which it belonged, and not the lack of efficiency in its training.
Similar reductions have been made in many other units under a comprehensive War Office Scheme and the Commandant hopes that all ranks will accept their new allocation with good spirit and continue the same high standard of discipline.

Biscot Camp effectively ceased to be a military base from Sunday, November 30th, 1919. The previous day's Beds & Herts Saturday Telegraph reported:
The handful of artillerymen who still remain at Biscot Camp are leaving tomorrow for Shorncliffe, Kent, and, with the exception of a small rear party, the camp will be empty.
The camp first came into existence as a training school for the London Territorial Artillery, and later many Luton men, after joining the Royal Field Artillery, went through their training at this camp, within a stone's throw of their homes. For a long period it was the centre of very strenuous activity and developed into the depot of reserve brigades for the Field Artillery, from which large drafts of reinforcements were sent out to the batteries in the field.
Since the Armistice there has been a natural slackening of the activities of the camp, and the number of men has steadily gone down, until there are only somewhere about 200 now, and these will be away by noon tomorrow [November 30th].
To take the men, guns, horses and baggage to Shorncliffe, the Midland Railway authorities are running three special trains. The loading of the first of these will begin at 7am, and it is expected that all three will be away during the morning. Today, guns have been brought to the station in readiness for loading, and some of the baggage is already loaded.
With the departure of the artillerymen will end what has been some very important place of war activities in Luton. Many of the men who at one time or another passed through this camp have made lasting friends, and some of them on finishing their Army service have come back to settle in the town.
The camp in several ways added to the gaiety of the town when the days were none too sunny, and Luton people in turn have on many occasions done their share in contributing to the entertainment of the men at the camp, either in the YMCA within the camp quarters, or in other centres which at various times have been operating in the town.
Three days later, the Tuesday Telegraph reported the departure of the Biscot men on the previous Sunday, November 30th. It said the Midland Railway troop siding had been the scene of considerable activity as the loading party speedily placed guns and stores on to the three special trains departing for Shorncliffe.
On Wednesday, December 17th, 1919, Luton auctioneers J. Cumberland & Sons sold a quantity of surplus furniture and effects from Biscot Camp. The items included tables, chairs, cupboards, linoleum, matting, enamelware, a power bread cutter, galvanised tank, meat safe, ice cream freezer, scales and weights etc. Also offered for sale was a boxing ring, complete in sections.
