Gustavus was born in 1888.

Gunner Jackson was the second son of Samuel Westlake Jackson and Florence Jackson of Romford. Gunner Jackson enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery in 1915, and served 12 months on the front before being wounded in action.

William Whittaker was the eldest son of George and Fanny Whittaker. He was brother to Joesph, Polly, Sarah, James, Herbert and Samuel Whittaker; and half brother to Richard Leech.

Hugh Bertlin's Funeral

Hugh Bertlin died at Wardown Park Hospital on the 12th July 1915, aged 24.

He was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a car near the Chequers pub in Houghton Regis.

Gunner Ernest Stanley Rosson, 254727, 21st Reserve Battery Royal Field Artillery, was preparing to embark with a draft for France when he was taken ill with influenza. Pneumonia took over and he was taken to Shorncliffe Military Hospital in Kent, where he died eight days later.

James Gwilym Tooth was a boy of 14 years when he joined the Royal Garrison Artillery as a trumpeter, following his father's footsteps into Army life.

He was born in Woolwich, Kent in 1891.

Pte Herbert Fensome, 8140, of the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regt, a reservist lately living at Maple Road, Luton, killed in action on September 15th, 1914.

Pte Archer Godfrey

Private Archer (Archie) Godfrey, 3/6526, 1st Battalion, Beds Regt, was killed in action on November 9th, 1914. He was aged 23.

Petty Officer Charles Dimmock

First-class Petty Officer Charles Dimmock, 192556, an old boy of Queen Square School, Luton, was one of the crew of HMS Good Hope missing with all hands following the Pacific naval battle of Coronel, off the Chilean coast.

Nora K. Durler

From 09/1914 to 25/03/1919, Nora Durler (nee Cumberland) was the Joint Commandant of Wardown VAD Hospital Luton, responsible for its management and supervising its administration. The other Commandant was her auntie, Mrs Green.

William Henry Payne was 1 of 10 children born to Arthur, a brass finisher & Mary. He was born in Luton in January 1890.

Thomas Alfred Ernest Rickard was the eldest of 4 children born to Thomas Ernest an iron foundry labourer & Charlotte Eliza a straw hat machinist.

It was reported in the Luton News on 21st September 1916 of the death of 2/Lieutenant Alexander Pigott Wernher, youngest son of Sir Julius & Lady Wernher.

Harold was born in 1899 to coal merchant, Henry & his wife Rose Maria.

Walter Tottingham was born in 1867 in Luton.

His parents Isaac & Caroline were also born in Luton & were working in the straw hat trade as a blocker & a sewer. In 1871 Walter is 5 years old & living with his parents & 8 year old sister Sarah at 36 Spring Place.

Son of the late Charles George Fowler. Born in London.

Buried in Luton Church Burial Ground (Crawley Green Road).
