Cyril Burberry Gibbons was born in Luton on 17th January 1895. He was the youngest of 5 children born to Henry & Henrietta.

Henry Gibbons was the owner of a drapery establishment at Denmark House No 2 Park Street, Luton.

In 1911 Cyril is 16 years old & living with his family in Denmark House. His father Henry is 50 & his mother Henrietta is 52. His brother Henry Percy is 19 & assisting in the business alongside his sisters Dorothy Louisa 21 & 24 year old Beatrice Victoria. Amy Beatrice Froom, their cousin, is also living & working at Denmark House as a dressmaker.

Henry employs 5 domestic servants & 13 girls in his drapery business that are all live-in, so a total of 25 people are living at the drapery in Park Street.

On 27th February 1917 Cyril enlisted into the Royal Navy as an Air Mechanic 2nd Class & was based at HMS President II. He was employed as a draughtsman in the Seaplane Section of the Royal Naval Air Service.

HMS President was the name given to a shore establishment of the Royal Navy based on the River Thames near Tower Bridge. HMS Buzzard, which had been used as a training ship since 1904 took the name President in April 1911 & served until January 1918.

On 30th January 1918 Cyril died of disease. His father Henry now living in Crescent Road, was notified. Cyril is buried in the cemetery on Rothesay Road.
