Details imported from Luton Absent Voters list and the National Roll of the Great War (Section V)

The National Roll (mostly submitted by families) describes his service as follows: He joined in January 1916 (Northamptonshire Regiment) but was not successful in obtaining his transfer overseas before the cessation of hostilities on account of physical unfitness for active service. He was engaged in important defence duties on the East Coast and rendered valuable services. He was demobilised in February 1919 but in the following April he re-enlisted and was sent to India where he was still serving in 1920.
