Reginald Roland Gurney Press was born in St Albans on 4th February 1895, 1 of 3 children born to Frederick Edmond & Lillian Ada.

In 1901 aged 5 years, Reginald is living at 48 North Street, Carshalton, Surrey. His father is 42 years old & working as a tobacconist whilst his 32 year old mother is at home looking after him & his 4 month old sister Rosa.

10 years later in 1911 the family are living apart. Frederick is now working as a draper's assistant in Surrey whilst Lillian & the children are living in Luton. They are living at 1a Regent street with extended family. William John Pearce is Lillian's uncle & the head of the household, he is 40 years old & a grocer's manager his wife is Florence Selina aged 52. Lillian is 42 years old & a milliner, Reginald is now 15 & working as an office boy, Rosa is 10 & their younger brother Frank Percy is 6, both are attending school.

Reginald joined the Royal Flying Corps on 9th November 1914, at that time he was living with his mother, sister & brother at 18 Regent Street & his profession was an electrician, mechanic & draughtsman. His service record describes him as 5ft 5 1/4 inches tall with a fair complexion, hazel eyes & dark brown hair.

On 17th April 1916 Reginald died of accidental injuries. He was buried in the Rothesay Road cemetery.
