Before adding anybody to the site, it is always advisable to search for your ancestor first.

Doctor Lloyd was the Commandant and Medical Superintendent of the Wardown Voluntary Aid Detachment (Red Cross) Hospital in Wardown Park, Luton and the Medical Officer to Lady Wernher's Hospital at Luton Hoo, which received wounded officers from Sister A

Pte Stanley George Crawley, died in a hospital near Shrewsbury on September 19th, 1918, seven months after contracting a complicated illness while serving on the Eastern Front and being sent home.

Jesse Bertran Hammett was born in 1895 in Luton to Walter & Emily.

In 1911 he is 16 years old & living at 169 Park street with his parents, bother Cyril 13, his brother-in-law Frederick Harding & they have a lodger Robert Chivers.

Town Clerk William Smith

William Smith was the Town Clerk of Luton during World War 1. He was appointed on September 3rd, 1912, and held the office until his death on January 7th, 1932 - just three days after his 63rd birthday.

Horace Tysom was born in July 1895 in Luton.

Pte Snoxell enlisted at Luton and served in the Royal Horse Artillery before joining 68th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action at an unspecified location in France on August 26th, 1914

Pte Horace Weedon, 14903, No. 1 Company of the 2nd Grenadier Guards, was killed in action in France on September 14th, 1914.

James Gwilym Tooth was a boy of 14 years when he joined the Royal Garrison Artillery as a trumpeter, following his father's footsteps into Army life.

He was born in Woolwich, Kent in 1891.

Private Jack Weedon

Pte Jack Weedon, 9840, 1st Battalion, Beds Regt, died from wounds sustained in action in France on October 27th, 1914.

Lance-Corporal William Harfield

Lance-Corporal William Albert Harfield, L/6446, a reservist serving with the 4th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers (City of London), died on September 21st, 1914, from wounds received in action.

Drummer Richard Freeman

Drummer Richard Leonard Freeman, 9752, 1st Battalion, Beds Regt, was killed in action on October 25th, 1914. He was aged 20.

Pte Herbert Fensome, 8140, of the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regt, a reservist lately living at Maple Road, Luton, killed in action on September 15th, 1914.

 

Pte Albert Smart

Pte Albert Smart, 9352, 2nd Battalion, Beds Regt, was killed in action on October 31st, 1914, near Festubert. Aged 22, he was the son of Mr and Mrs Henry Smart, of 92 Bury Park Road, Luton.

Pte Lewis Dyer

Pte Lewis Dyer, 8142, 1st Battalion, Beds Regt, killed in action on October 26th, 1914. He was aged 31.
