21 Category B2, B3 & C2 Drivers were transferred to Remount Depot, Shirehampton

 

A Draft of 1 B.S.M, 1 Sergeant, 3 Corporals, 5 Bombardiers, 40 Gunners, 100 Drivers and 12 Signallers proceeded Overseas . Total 162

 

Sept. 3

30 Recruits arrived from No. 4. R.F.A. Depot Woolwich and were taken on the strength of the Brigade

Major General SIR J. BRUNKER K.C.M.G. (Inspector General R.H. & R.F.A.) inspected the Brigade on the 6th and 7th September 1917

 

Sept 7

Lieut. A.E. WAYLEN 3/3rd Lon. Bde. R.F.A. proceeded to Hemel Hempstead prior to proceeding Overseas

 

2nd Lt. H.K. ELCOCK 3/2nd Lon. Bde. R.F.A. proceeded to Heytesbury prior to proceeding Overseas

 

2nd Lt. W.J.M. STAIT S.R. proceeded Overseas

 

4 Category details were transferred to Maredfield Park

 

10 Category B2 Drivers were transferred to Riding Establishment, Woolwich

Inspection

 

The Report of Inspector General R.H. & R.F.A.  was as follows

 

Horses – A good lot in very good condition

 

Training.

 Riding.  Very fair

 Driving. Fair – Coming into action and Limbering up require much attention

 

Gun Drill – Good

 

Signalling – 100 men passed.  122 under training

 

Anti-Gas

Instruction – Very satisfactory

Physical Training – Good

 

The training of young Officers and of Men selected to go to Cadet Schools is particularly good

 

Stable Management – Very Good

Messing and Comfort for Men – Particularly well attended to

 

This Brigade is doing Good Work

 

The Commandant considers that the work done at this inspection was very satisfactory and reflects great credit on all concerned.

 

Sept 16

2nd Lt. C.B. GRIFFITH 3/5th  Lon. Bde R.F.A. was transferred to E.C. Labour Centre, Thetford

 

Sept 17

The change from Summer Time to Greenwich Time took place at 2.a.m. when all clocks in camp were put back one hour.

 

2nd Lt. L.C. MILLER M.C. 3/3rd Lon. Be. R.F.A. joined from Overseas and was taken on the strength of the Brigade from 15/09/1917.

 

 2nd Lt. S.A. RENVOIZE 3/1st Lon. Bde. R.F.A. joined for duty was was taken on strength

 

Sept 18

Major J.W. HIND was transferred for duty with Ministry of Munitions.

 

Sept 19

2nd Lt. J.R.M. WALKER, R.F.A. (T) reported for duty and was taken on strength

Entertaining

An Entertaining Committee was formed under the direction of the P.R.I (Captain CHAS. LANE) for the purpose of promoting and arranging Entertainments during the Winter months.

 

Inspection

The Brigade was inspected by Lieut. General Sir H.H WILSON K.C.B.  D.S.O at 11.30a.m.

 

A draft of 51 Gunners and 22 Signallers proceeded Overseas to France

Total 73

 

Lieut A.J. EARL R.F.A. joined from No. 3 Reserve Brigade Bulford and was taken on strength

 

2nd Lt. A.N. HICKS (S.R.) reported for duty from No. 4. R.F.A  Cadet School Brighton and was taken on the strength of the Brigade
