John Edward Godfrey, formerly Sapper 1611, 2nd East Anglian Division Royal Engineers, died on July 24th, 1916, nearly 18 months after being discharged as medically unfit for military service. Born in Caddington, he was aged 32.

He joined the Royal Engineers in December 1914 and was discharged the following February. He had suffered from heart trouble which developed into jaundice and he died after a long illness.

Pte Charles John Ambridge, 3500, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 15th, 1915. Born at Wavendon in late 1891, he was the only son of Alfred and Louisa Ambridge, who were living at 74 Dane Road, Luton, in 1915.

Charles Ambridge had been employed as an assembler at the Skefko Ball Bearing Works in Leagrave Road, Luton, for about 18 months before he enlisted.

Pte Archibald (Archer) Punter, 5604, 1st Battalion, Beds Regt, was killed in action on November 16th, 1914, in the First Battle of Ypres. He was a married man aged 33, whose wife lived at 24 Dane Road, Luton.
