It has been compiled from the 1918 Luton Absent Voters List, Rolls of Honour; and information researched and uploaded by project volunteers and members of the public.

Before adding anybody to the site, it is always advisable to search for your ancestor first.
Lance-Sgt Albert Payne, 2289, 1/5th Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 15th, 1915 - on the same battlefield and same day that a younger brother, Cpl Nathan Payne, aged 21, also died.
Cpl Nathan Payne, 3457, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 15th, 1915 - one the same day that an older brother, L-Sgt Albert Payne, aged 27, also died.
Pte Frank Rimmer, 4085, A Company, 1/5th Battalion Beds Regt, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 16th, 1915. He was the son of Mr Edmund Rimmer, Secretary of the Luton Co-operative Society, who lived at 153 Tennyson Road, Luton.
Pte Harold Frederick Puddephatt, 3066, A Company, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action on August 15th*, 1915. He was aged 21.
L-Cpl Rowland Abbott, 4025, 1/5th Bedfords, died on August 21st, 1915, from wounds sustained at Gallipoli. Newspaper reports said he was aged 44.
Pte Cyril Snoxell, 3099, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action on August 16th*, 1915, at Gallipoli. He was aged 18 and the son of Alfred Snoxell, of 84 Grange Road [now St Peter's Road], Luton.
Sgt David William Buckingham, 2911, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 16th, 1915. He was aged 29.
Sgt Herbert Bunyan, 11446, 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), was killed in action at Hooge in Flanders on August 9th, 1915, and was buried in Sanctuary Wood.
Second-Lieut Raymond Eric Deacon, 10th North Staffordshire Regiment (attached 8th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers), was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 7th, 1915. He was aged 23.
Pte Percy Frank Linger, 2833, 1/24th Battalion London Regiment, was killed in action in a charge by his regiment near Givenchy on May 26th, 1915, an engagement in which several Lutonians were killed or wounded. He was aged 21.
Pte Ewart William Clark, 82, Royal Army Medical Corps, 54th East Anglian Casualty Clearing Hospital, was lost when the troopship Royal Edward was torpedoed off the island of Kandeloussa in the Aegean Sea by German submarine UB-14 on August 13th, 1915.
Frank Sharp Spacey was born in 1872 in Luton.
In 1881 he is living at No 7 Chase Street, Luton with his Father Francis a straw hat blocker, mother Phoebe a straw hat sewer & sisters Lily & Rosa. His younger sister Phoebe Ann was born in 1882 the same year his mother died.
Albert Edward Marsh was born in Luton in 1899.
In 1911 he is a 12 year old school boy & living with his family at 30 St Ann's Road.
Pte Alfred Fieldhouse Lloyd, 4245, B Company, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli. Officially his death is recorded as August 16th, 1915, although one battlefield comrade said he had not been seen since August 15th. His body was found on October 9th.
Pte Alfred Edward Mitchell, 4401, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli on September 3rd, 1915. He was aged 27 and had been married to Jane (nee Heath) only since October 1914.
Pte George Draper, 10763, 1st Battalion Beds Regt, was killed in action near Hill 60 on July 11th, 1915. He was aged 20.
Sapper William Edwin Abrahams, 1379, No 2 Section, 1/2nd Field Company, East Anglian Royal Engineers, died on September 2nd, 1915, from wounds sustained the previous day at Gallipoli. He had celebrated his 20th birthday on August 27th.
Pte William Fensome, 4487, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 15th, 1915.
Sapper Arthur Alec (Aleck or Alick)* Frost, 1663, 1st (East Anglian) Field Company Royal Engineers, was killed in action on June 25th, 1915. He was aged 25.
Pte George Henry Brown (Willis), 4350, 1/5th Bedfords, died on September 9th, 1915, from wounds sustained at Gallipoli. He was buried at Cairo War Memorial Cemetery.
Owen Tuffnell was born in Dublin in Ireland on 5th October 1872. He came from a large family, 1 of 8 children born to William & Ann Maria.
Pte Joseph Edward Betts, 1784, Eastern Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps, was killed by a bullet as he was about to board a lighter to take him to the Gallipoli beaches on October 8th*, 1915.
Pte Frank Wilson, 8940, 2nd Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment, died in the Military Hospital at South Tidworth, Hants, on September 15th, 1915, following wounds sustained while fighting at Neuve Chapelle. He was aged 21.
Pte Ralph Stanley Lewin, 3875, 1/5th Bedfords, was killed in at action at Gallipoli on September 15th, 1915. He was aged 30 and left a widow, May, and one child, Hilda, aged six.
Pte William Joseph Florin, 4081, 1/5th Bedfords, died at the 16th Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli, on September 17th, 1915, from wounds sustained in action. He was aged 19.
Sapper Richard Worker, 807, 1/2nd Field Company, East Anglian Royal Engineers, was killed in action at Gallipoli on September 21st, 1915. It would have been his 20th birthday on October 6th.
Pte Frank (Francis) Joseph Turner, 2030, 5/13th Battalion, Australian Infantry, Australian Imperial Force, was killed in action at Gallipoli on August 22nd, 1915. He was a Lutonian who had emigrated to Australia about six years earlier.
James William Swain was born in West Hampstead, Middlesex in 1895.
Aged 16 & working as a butcher's boy in 1911, he is living with his father Jabez 39, a cab driver, his mother Mary Ann 49 & his 3 brothers Jack 13, Arthur 11 & 9 year old Horace at No 18 Arthur Street.
Charles Ferns Moorhead was born in Baldock, Hertfordshire in 1887.
His father Samuel, a watchmaker & his mother Rebecca were from Ireland. He was 1 of 8 children.
Richard Newins was born in April 1878.
He joined the Army Service Corps on 28th April 1915 in London & was shortly posted to France.
Pte William James Proctor, 25628, 8th Battalion East Surrey Regiment (Depot), died from pneumonia in the London General Hospital, Camberwell, on March 3rd, 1917. He was aged 33.
Pte William George Ibbett, 3073, 1/5th Bedfords, died of pneumonia on board the hospital ship Guildford Castle and was buried at sea on September 23rd, 1915. He was aged 18.
Pte Horace Hammett, 3/7435, 1st Bedfords, was killed in action at Hill 60 in France on May 5th, 1915. He was posted "missing and wounded" on June 9th but it was not until September that his parents received official notification of his death.
Pte Frederick Charles Everitt, 15432, 11th Battalion Essex Regiment, was killed in action in the battle of Loos in Flanders on September 26th, 1915.
Pte Reginald Stuart Stares, 14809, C Company, 12th West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales' Own), is recorded as killed in action at the battle of Loos in France on September 26th, 1915. He was posted missing following an engagement on September 27th.
Pte Albert Edgar Saunders, 235327, 18th Battalion The King's (Liverpool Regiment), died in King George's Hospital, London, on November 24th, 1918, as a result of wounds sustained at Ypres on April 29th, 1918.
William was born in 1888.
He seved in the 5th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment.
He survived the war but died on 15th October 1919.
He is buried in the cemetery on Crawley Green Road.
